The terms bath renovating and bath remodeling are sometimes used interchangeably. However, there is a difference in the amount of work involved in each term and the price-tag that comes with it. In this blog post, we will goo over the differences in them.
Bath Renovating
Bath Renovating basically works within an existing footprint or space. For the most part, Bath Renovating would be performed to modernize, and refresh the bathroom. You can fix any function or cosmetically improve the space. In a Bath Renovating you are typically going to repair, wallpaper or paint, replace tiling, replace flooring, and/or add new lighting. In other words, if it already exists and you’re just changing it out or cleaning it up, you’re renovating.
Bath Remodeling
Bath Remodeling is a renovation plus additional construction. It involves doing most of what a renovation can involve: new paint, tile, new lighting, etc. But the basis of Bath Remodeling typically adds a construction element. If the project involves tearing out a wall to expand the space, taking part of a closet, it’s a bath remodel. Moving significant plumbing structures underneath the flooring to add additional sinks or moving a tub or shower to a different location are also types of Bath Remodeling. These projects involve large-scale construction and structural changes to the space in addition to requiring electrical, plumbing, and building permits. It becomes a larger project than a simple renovation.
